A Bangladeshi youth was injured in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Parashuram border in Feni. His name is Md. Shipon (35). He is the son of deceased Ali Newaj of Baurpathar village of Parashuram municipality. This incident took place in Pillar No. 6612 area on the border of Baurpathor village around 11 pm last Tuesday.

Local residents admitted the injured Shipon to Parashuram Upazila Health Complex. After primary treatment, he was admitted to a private hospital.

Khorshed Alam, a local councilor of Parashuram municipality, said that around 11 pm, a few gunshots were suddenly heard. Shipon was later found shot in the leg.

When asked, the captain of Feni 4 BGB Lt. Col. Sheikh Mohammad Badruddoza told Prothom Alo that he heard about a Bangladeshi youth being shot dead by BSF firing. The matter is being investigated. It is not legal to shoot someone in the border area even if they are involved in the crime of smuggling.
