Ashiq of Bangladesh broke the Guinness World Records of India's Jitin

Ashiq Chowdhury entered the Guinness World Records for attempting to jump from a flying plane with the flag of Bangladesh. The Guinness record for 'Greatest Distance Freefall with a Banner/Flag' was held by Indian skydiver Jitin Vijayana. Ashiq took that record today on July 1. Guinness World Records has already updated Ashiq's information on their website.

Talked to Ashiq Chowdhury this evening after getting the news of setting Guinness World Records. In Prothom Alo, he said, 'I was very sure after getting information from the World Air Sports Federation that I am going to break two Guinness records. Today, Guinness authorities have confirmed the matter by e-mail. It's great to have the record officially recognized.'

Ashiq also said, 'I applied for this record last week. Another (longest outdoor flat freefall) record was applied for two days later. Maybe next week I will know the Guinness update about that record. But for me this record with the flag of Bangladesh was important. which I have already received.'

Indian skydiver Jitin Vijayana's record for 'Greatest Distance Freefall with a Banner/Flag' was 11,256 meters or 36,929 feet 13 inches. Ashiq Chowdhury broke it by 11 thousand 368 meters or 37 thousand 296 feet 58 inches holding the flag.

The Guinness record for 'Longest Outdoor Flat Freefall', which Ashiq has applied for, is also currently held by India's Jeetin. In this case Jeetin took 2 minutes 47 seconds. Jitin went to the United States on July 1 last year and succeeded in setting a record.

Ashiq Chowdhury attempted to set a world record by jumping from a plane in Memphis, USA on May 25. His record-setting venture is called 'The Largest Flag Flown in the Stratosphere'. The space between 10 and 60 km above the earth's surface is called the stratosphere. Ashiq jumped with a flag of about 7 square feet to set the record.

A judge from the World Air Sports Federation was present during this attempt of Ashiq. The agency, which monitors records of aerial stunts, sent detailed statistics of Ashik's jump in early June. It can be seen that Ashiq jumped from a plane flying at a height of 41 thousand 795 feet. He raised the national flag after coming down at a height of 37 thousand 297 feet. Then hold the flag for 2 minutes and 50 seconds. After reaching a height of 4,498 feet, he opened the parachute on his back to land on the ground. In this, Ashiq broke two World Air Sports Federation world records.

Ashiq Chowdhury has applied for the inclusion of his name in two branches of Guinness World Records after receiving the statistics from the World Air Sports Federation. In between, Ashiq visited Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. He returned from there and applied last week.

Ashiq Chowdhury is a banker by profession. He is the Associate Director of the Real Asset Finance Division of the multinational The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in Singapore. During work, he trained extensively in skydiving under Thai Sky Adventure Company. He got his skydiver license last year. By showing this license, Ashiq can skydiving in any country of the world without the help of others.

Private sector United Commercial Bank (UCB) financially supported Ashiq Chowdhury's world record attempt. Prothom Alo was an associate.
